Getting a head start on the triathlon season meant travelling up to the Cotswold to join 300 other keen competitors for the Cotswold Super Sprint Tri (400m/20k/5k). The 8am start time meant the water temperature was toe curling and certainly made transitions interesting. New team member David Bartlett exited the water first in a 5 min swim split and stormed out of transition with feet numb with Paul Horsfall (BAD Tri) and Chris Stuart (ATA Army Tri) hot on his heels.
Riding his Giant Trinity Alliance and new Zipp 404's David split a 29.54 the 4th fastest of the day and his best bike split to date. Although extremely pleased with his progress, Michael Milstead (Moti Giant) had put in a stunning course record split of 28.20 to take the lead leaving David in second.
The run was a solo effort with first or third place not being seen until the finish line. A modest 17 minute run split secured 2nd and a pleasing opener to the season. Final results;
1st Michael Milstead MOTI GIANT
2nd David Bartlett CYCLELOGIC
