Giant’s new tyre line-up took it’s first spin in Triathlete’s World this month, with a full page feature in the best-selling triathlon magazine on the UK newsstand.
With a completely new moulding process Giant’s new road tyres combine light weight with great puncture resistance;
“Giant’s new Flat Guard tyres are designed to seriously limit the punctures that bedevil cyclists…the new moulding process, with an off-centre seam combined with a lightweight puncture-resistant belt underneath the tread, creates a harder wearing, more durable tyre.”
The offset mould joint also enable Giant to create a wear indicator which runs down the very centre of the tyre – where the tyres actually wear the most – so you won’t be caught out by a shredded tyre when you’ve put in some serious mileage;
“The P-SL2’s also come with a new tread wear indicator – small circular holes at intervals around the centre of the tyre let you know when it’s time to replace them.”
The P-SL2 tyres come with front and rear specific compounds and there are currently three road options available, including a Kevlar beaded version (P-SLR2). There’s also a 700c commuter tyre with reflective sidewall (P-X1).
